The Real Estate market in Portland Oregon continues to do well. Flying in the face of adversity and negative perception, those properties priced well are selling well.
Contrary to popular belief, pricing it well does not necessarily mean lowering the price. What it does mean is that the Agent has done there job and accurately assessed the property and the market conditions.
The bane of overpricing a home to start with does a disservice to all. In the Portland metropolitan area at any given time there are thousands of Buyers actively looking for a home.
As each new listing comes on the market, each of these Buyer's with their respective Agents assess the strengths and weaknesses of the new listing. If you are overpriced your home will sit. Reducing the price often times sends a signal to the world that there is something wrong with your property.
Or even worse it say's that we were trying to be greedy and are now willing to back off a little at a time.
Price it right the first time and you will see the power of the market in Portland Oregon.

We all have memories, some sad and some happy. Some of the happiest memories I have as a child is of my Great Uncle Roy. Uncle Roy was my Grandmothers brother. They had lived in North Dakota as children before moving out to Oregon. Their upbringing was associated with farm life.
By the time is was old enough to recognize people my Great Uncle was already a fairly old man. He lived in a rural part of SW Washington some 20 Miles or so from Portland Oregon. I always enjoyed visiting my Great Uncle. He had a brilliant memory rich with the stories of his life.
Each and every year our family would hold our annual family Picnic at Uncle Roy's 45 acres. And that would mean that each and every year someone from the family would have to volunteer to help Mow the Grass a week or so before the big event.
Now mowing grass at Uncle Roy's place was no easy task. As by the mid summer that grass would be about three feet tall. The picnic would require about 2 acres to be mown all by hand. Uncle Roy did not own a lawn mower instead he chose to mow using a scythe.
Now there are probably more than a few of you that do not know what a scythe is. It is an awkward piece of equipment featuring a prominent curved and very sharp blade about two foot or so long mounted on a long twisted handle about six foot or so in length. It takes a bit of time to master the art of using this old predecessor to today's modern weed eater.
By the time I was in my early teens the yearly task of mowing Uncle Roy's grass had been passed on to me. When I first began doing it I found it a wonderful experience and an opportunity to spend time with a man who I really admired.
But as the years wore the three day ordeal became less appealing as a 16 year old I had other ambitions for my few meager summer days. I devised a plan to mitigate the days of hard work ahead.
I took to my Uncle Roy's a good friend of mine and asked if this year I could have my friend come and work with me. I quickly added that with the two of us we could complete our task twice as fast.
Uncle Roy looked us up and down and after a long pause he made this statement. " Well I suppose, but you know the rules about Boy's don't You " ? We both just stood and looked at him with that confused dog look on our faces. Finally, " No " is all I could utter.
" One Boy is a Boy, two Boy's is a half a Boy and three Boy's is no Boy at all." So if there is going to be two of you, you will have to start two day's earlier to get the job done in time.
You know what. As hard as we tried that summer, those 2 days of mowing stretched into 4. My Great Uncle Roy was right.
